About Dr. Oma Agbai

  

 Dr. Oma Agbai is a Board-Certified Dermatologist, Health Sciences Associate Clinical Professor of Dermatology and Founding Director of Multicultural Dermatology and Hair Restoration at the University of California, Davis Medical Center in Sacramento, California. She completed her Bachelor of Science degree at Emory University, obtained her Doctorate of Medicine at Temple University School of Medicine, and completed her Internal Medicine internship at Pennsylvania Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania Hospital. She served as the C.S. Livingood Clinical Research Fellow in Dermatology at Henry Ford Hospital, followed by Dermatology residency at the University of California, Davis. 

Dr. Agbai's Expertise

  

 Dr. Agbai has conducted clinical research in cosmetic procedures, alopecia (hair loss), and multicultural dermatology, resulting in nationally and internationally recognized scientific publications. With over 11 years of experience, she has developed recognized expertise in the comprehensive diagnosis and treatment of hair and scalp disorders. Dr. Agbai founded Northern California’s first comprehensive Hair Loss to Hair Restoration Program, designed to provide a full spectrum approach to hair loss care, from medical and nutritional evaluation to advanced procedural treatments. Her practice integrates evidence-based complex medical management of alopecia with regenerative therapies such as platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections and surgical hair transplantation using follicular unit extraction (FUE)and follicular unit transplantation (FUT). Through this program, she provides individualized treatment plans for patients with diverse hair types and hair loss conditions, with a focus on achieving natural, durable hair restoration outcomes. 


Dr. Agbai has repeatedly been recognized nationally as a Castle Connolly Top Doctor, and as a Top Doctor in Sacramento, California.

Public Education Through Media

 Dr. Agbai expresses her creativity and community engagement through public speaking and public education through media. She engages the Sacramento community through her regular appearances as a dermatology contributor on the television program "Good Day Sacramento”. Additionally, she is passionate about raising awareness about burnout among mothers. She recently delivered a TEDx Talk entitled: How to Turn Burnout into Breakthrough.
